Things to do on the lake
Pine Hollow is busy all year. Here's what people get up to, and where.
-
Fishing
Walleye off the points at dusk, pike in the weedy bays. Check the current limits before you go.
-
Paddling
The narrows and the creek mouth are calm in the morning. Loon families nest along the west shore.
-
Swimming
The sandbar beach is shallow and good for kids. No lifeguard, so keep an eye out.
-
Boating
Slow to no-wake within 30 m of shore. Launch hours are posted under Lake info.
-
Hiking
The Ridge Trail loops 6 km from the community hall to the lookout and back.
-
Wildlife watching
Loons, herons, otters and the occasional moose. Add sightings to the Facebook group.
-
Ice fishing
Once the board posts safe ice, the south bay fills with huts. Remove yours before the spring deadline.
-
Skating
Volunteers clear a rink off the public dock when the ice allows. Bring a shovel to help.
-
Snowshoeing
The Ridge Trail is packed after each storm. Lantern walk on the full moon in February.
-
Cross-country skiing
Groomed loop around the north shore when there's enough snow. Stay off the narrows.
-
Snowmobiling
Use the marked trail across the lake only. Keep clear of pressure ridges and the creek mouth.
-
Winter carnival
Sled races, chili cook-off and a bonfire on the bay, usually in late February.
